Photographed in June of 2010 during one of the worst man-made disasters in the history of the United States, this image depicts a wave cresting in water saturated with crude oil just yards from the shore of Grand Isle, Louisiana. The Macondo well was finally capped on July 15, but only after two hundred and ten million gallons of crude oil spewed into the Gulf of Mexico.
