Calophyllum inophyllum: an enormous forbidding yet beautiful tree with wide trunk and massive branches is up to 40 m tall with large thick shinny leaves that appear to be patent leather. It’s bark is extremely rough and irregular with cracks and fissures as much as six inches deep.
It’s flower is all the opposite, beginning with a delicate complex structure containing buds no more than a few centimeters in diameter.
