The Main Street series explores issues dealing with human connection. In this case, I wanted to study this common surface structure that we exploit daily and which connects us all. This image is from the subset, Surface.
When conceived, I saw the series as a bit like studying the grain of film or the pixels of digital execpt for the human connection. What I found was something more complex and rich. Those homogenous surfaces were not so and presented a rich variety of textures and individual presence. It was often hard to justify stopping at first, as the surface would seem just like any other until I stopped and really looked, not much different than most things in life, I suppose.
The series ended up in 3 parts: Surface, Color and Markings.
The entire series can be seen here: http://www.johnacurso.com/Main-Street-1.html
Not all images from the series are posted for sale here at this time. If you see one you are interested in on my website but can't find it here, please send me a message and I will post it or let you know if it is not available.
