In 2009 I traveled to the US for research, and began to develop a religious theme within a body of work. I experimented photographing church road signs in profile and was subsequently awarded an artist residency in Texas. This I recently completed, during which I was able to produce a new series of work. The final images are multiple composites, shot using a panoramic mount system in order to carefully control detail. The aim was to transform these everyday structures and imbue them with a monumental, shrine like presence.
