This image is part of a series of carefully staged scenes, which explore underlying worries and anxieties related to the maternal role. The work attempts to organise and make sense of a chaotic and ambiguous notion of the responsibility and what it entails to be ‘a mother’. The images explore the many juxtapositions that comes with the role and reflect upon its psychological undercurrents.
Each image answers to a different narrative , but as a body of work they form a study of the underlying psychological challenges that I believe can come naturally to women, presumably in different degrees, as they step into the maternal role and become subject to the affectionate bonding process between mother and child.
