My paintings of Pripyat and Chernobyl are interested in the strange fusions taking place in the region around the reactor in the 25 years since the world’s worst nuclear disaster. The ghost town of Pripyat now stands as a memory of life in the Soviet era, slowly decaying as nature reclaims the buildings. The whole area is soaked in radiation, some parts will be uninhabitable for unimaginable lengths of time.

I visited the Exclusion Zone in 2009, a strange and unnerving experience.
