This started from the realisation that we are all just one among many! I made the drawing while sitting in the Mall Galleries looking at the Threadneedle Prize paintings. I'd just had some paintings rejected from the Discerning Eye, and was sitting at a table drinking coffee, with all these paintings around me. I thought how, as artists, we are always struggling to be heard, and a drawing grew from this emotion and then this painting. It is also one among many being painted.
