when i painted jim keays, because hes a friend and i love him very much. hes actually a nice guy if you know him. I love his music, which i listen to while i paint. i actually saw him play live in a little cafe called the beach house cafe, where we met up - but he had herd about me and checked me out before too. The agenda; The painting all along was for the archibald prize 2012 but did not get in as the judges were looking for a certain thing only. It was not a commission, or study piece.
