The way this piece came about was when marks already made were revealed.
On further study of the overlapping elements it can take you by surprise and it is not always what you expect. I also like the way the tones and marks 'twist' the space. This in some ways helps to avoid the dominance of the ovoid shape. It is also an example of using colour and tone to create an abstract work which doesn't need line!
