A massive big "Sigh" this painting has survived being vandalized again which I believe is the third act of intentional damage this canvas has gone through.
It has now been reworked to take account of the damage. And I am pleased again to offer it for acquisition by a serious lover or collector of art or gallery.
The new incarnation is now as anticipated In Love with a damaged canvas, the final resolution. The reworking was mainly more heavy sandpapering on the leaf and some on the oil. I was totally horrified but am rather pleased that this appears to be giving the image more texture and character and perhaps is in keeping with its rather jaded history.
To hopefully bring this paintings history of attempted destruction to an end it has been framed with wood behind museum glass in a box structure.
Oil, 23.75 carat gold leaf, tarnishing copper leaf, on canvas. 36 x 36 inches approx.
