All little girls like drawing princesses and ballerinas. I continue to do so after having acquired a professional art education of the artist.
All my thoughts, dreams, emotions - sorrow, joy, love - I transform into the images of ballet-dancers. Ballerinas are really almost, and actually can be considered as angels, only -- the difference is that they have tutus instead of wings.
My ballerinas symbolize the grace of a woman, and her fragile soul. They could be image any of women. I offer to the viewerspectators the possibility of free interpretation and identification.
Today, the modern art tries to surprise the viewerspectator, to create the shock. I want to create the delight. For many centuries, beauty has prevailed in art -- subjective and objective beauty, absolute and relative beauty. And I, too, cling to the principle of beauty.
The images of ballerinas make it possible for me, give the possibility to create endless compositions, to make use of stylization and display different movements that resemble flying or floating.
I am inspired by iconography, thus I use gold for background; my stylization is influenced by Gothic art and by Art Nouveau.
