Mixed media painting on heavy-duty, wood-stretched canvas; acrylic; gesso; modeling paste; pulverized gold leaf, mica, and, natural mother of pearl; Canadian goose feather; and, gloss acrylic gels. I have painted works in the ICARUS SERIES since 2002, when I began a Fellowship from the POLLOCK-KRASNER FOUNDATION in New York City (founded by Lee Krasner from the estates of her work and husband's, Jackson Pollock). All works in this series deal with the science and history of flight via DaVinci's fan-like sketches and the myth of Icarus.
The painting of the surface is done in a textured relief; the feather in the center is natural and sewn onto the canvas with gold thread.
Price does not include shipment costs. Size in inches is 48" high by 16" wide (122 cm x 41 cm). Canvas is stretched on the back of the wood frame, which makes the work's painted sides part of the actual work; it needs no framing.
