Give Blood Painting

Bruno Krauchthaler was born in Switzerland in 1957 and has been creating art of one kind or another - drawing, painting, photography and sculpture - since he can remember. He sold his first paintings when he was 17. After coming to America in 1977 he worked for a time painting people's dreams, an endeavor which has influenced his present work. The act of painting for Mr. Krauchthaler is itself a process of discovery, of working through subtle layers of meaning to connect what is on the surface to what is beneath. His paintings, with their rich and sometimes surprising detail, invite us to participate in this process with him.
