BB Bango is a pseudonym for Tim Bristow. He is a Pop Artist and Video Artist (produces music videos) as well as composer and brick maker. Now minting NFTs on opensea.io - search on Bango-Art. He runs a shop/gallery in Bembridge, Isle of Wight called ClayClay with over 23 local artists on display as well as everything to do with clay including 'mini clay bricks' for building kits, terracotta letters and handmade bricks. BB Bango paints largely on paper in acrylics and oils and specialises in abstract seascapes, cars and 'fruity' psychedelic nudes and has developed his own variant of Pop Art - 'SpinArt' where a picture can be viewed in 4 different planes - ie upside down, sideways etc. His Art: Simple, UnComplicated paintings are determined by his desire for quickness and is inevitably distracted in the forming of a image by new colours or influences. Heavily influenced by Roy Lichtenstein, Edvard Munch and Rothko his works seems to reflect both "˜classicism' and "˜abstraction' yet within the 'pop art' ethos and he does it all at both ends of the image rainbow - some works are so full of images (many hidden) one doesn"˜t know where to start to look - his "˜realistically abstract' paintings his 'Spin Art'. Whereas at the other end of the spectrum there is nothing but colour - his "˜multiform' paintings. He is increasingly painting 'large'. Large-scale paintings are used in order to overwhelm the viewer and make the viewer feel "enveloped within" the painting. Others may say the large size is an attempt to make up for a lack of substance which is why BB Bango also offers the same images in much smaller paper and canvas formats. He says in retaliation "˜I realize that historically the function of painting large pictures is painting something very grandiose and pompous. The reason I paint them large is precisely because I want to be very intimate and human. To paint a small picture is to place yourself outside your experience. If you paint a larger picture, you are in it. It isn't something I can command!' BB Bango even recommends that a viewer position themselves as little as 18 inches away from the canvas so that they may experience a sense of intimacy yet you must also see the painting in its entirety standing 8 foot away. http://clayclay.co.uk/html/popart.html, www.Brickdirectory.co.uk, www. minibrick.co.uk, www.isleofwightfilmboard.co.uk,wwww.southislandmusic.co.
