The painting series is an exploration in geometric abstraction. The principle elements studied being formal geometric volumes carefully placed in a spatial field. Colour, texture, light & shade enhance the experience of these forms strewn in space. The central concern of the series being to arrive at complex but balanced compositions, thus attempting to bring order to chaos.
The painting series titled "Platonic indulgence" itself represents the irony of the need to replace the simple perfection of the platonic solids revered by the modernists with a more complex visual system which reflects the chaotic vibrancy of our post modern condition.
The medium used is acrylic on canvas as the medium lends itself to a colourful and crisp geometric style.
The artist's background as an architect explains his passion for geometric forms and he would like his audience to appreciate the imaginative and artistic possibilities of non-figurative art.
