The work is intended to explore and capture the natural characteristics of paint. Acrylic paint has a plastic quality which is captured through an additive which allows the two dimensional surface to be peeled-back once dry and manipulated. Emphasis in the work is on the liquid vehicle rather than the pigment, i.e. the roles are reversed; the liquid vehicle takes the primary position, and the colour, although still celebrated, is secondary.
