During the current Libyan uprising Colonel Gaddafi said to the people of Benghazi ‘We are coming tonight, and there will be no mercy’. For the leader of a country to threaten his people, women and children in their beds terrified me. The global response to this statement prevented that strike on Benghazi, but the conflict continues. I created this painting in recognition of the fear and pain that those people felt that night.
