Description: Zinsmeister Parker takes very seriously the art of composing pictorial space, but always in defiance of conventional traditions. Mom on the Edge is an example of scale establishing the pictorial environment for the viewer, the information within signifying the nature and extent of that environment. But in this instance, Parkers tactics typically admit to ambiguity and contradiction. While she makes use of recognizable objects, these are in fact often rendered in false or illogical perspective, or they are left unresolved structurally, with portions incomplete or dissolved to disappear into -what? - a field of color whose coding is uncertain or known only to the artist. Medium: collage, semi-gloss enamel on canvas
