View of a church and viaduct in Tuscany. I originally painted this scene in landscape on the same canvas but painted it out and started again in a portrait aspect. I viewed the scene through a very small hole cut in a postcard to give the heavily cropped composition as the church was at quite a distance. I simplified the church, viaduct and surrounding woodland to their most basic geometric forms and used outlines and block colours in terracotta and green shades to produce a bold graphic style.
