Chameleon: Mars Black & Cadium Yellow is a three dimensional painting composed of two layers of acrylic paint plasticized with a mixing agent and cast into a sheet, defined by the internal dimensions of my studio floor. The sheet is cut into threads and spliced together so that it is transformed into a three-dimensional dynamic form whilst alluding to its two-dimensional origins; The uncut black border or ‘frame’ which remains delineates the studio space from which it was created.

As the forms change and the colours merge, depending upon where the work is viewed, the viewer is encouraged to engage physically with the work. In this way the piece is intended to evoke both the visual qualities of painting, while offering the tactile, interactive qualities of an installation.
