I am an expressionist / abstract expressionist painter. I am inspired by art movements past, present and future and the visual world around me (everything really.) My art celebrates colour, pattern...
Mosaic in black & white, silver and multi-colour with Penny Black stamp image collage. The painting is living up to its name; the top left tile has the faint image of a skull in profile echoing the dead queen's head. The Penny Black was the world’s first adhesive postage stamp introduced in 1840. The term 'collage' (derived from 'coller' French for glue) was coined by both Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso in the beginning of the 20th century when collage became a distinctive part of modern art. Collaged images from popular culture are also used in Pop Art. From 'Mosaic' series. Deep box canvas with gallery wrapped edges and painted sides, ready to unwrap and hang. Sent with a Certificate of Authenticity signed on reverse by artist Cyndy Cmyth.
