What’s next? No-one knows of course, but with “In Between the Lines” I am revealing the last images before leaving this hectic world behind. All aspects of life are there, like a film we zoom out to from the chaos, we are catapulted by a celestial spiral into the unknown, hypnotic and unearthly. The dance of life and death… intertwined...
It was important to differentiate properties in this work. I used both ceramic and smalti tiles to capture a glimpse of our human life and to build an architectural landscape of speed and rhythm. This angular rigidity signifies our mundane existence, in strong contrast with the celestial qualities of the omnipresent spiral, represented by hand cut iridized tiles. I used stained glass, mirrors and turquoise to highlight the precious moments in life. To encapsulate the existence of one person’s life I used figurative holograms, 3D images, broken china, mirrors and turquoise.
