This piece is part of a series of self portraits, Vanity and Insanity, started over ten years ago, and finished recently. It glows in the dark. I mounted gouache and ink drawings onto canvas, then painted with acrylic, gold/copper leaf and drips of candle wax to form a Tree of Life that includes writing, a road map, figures, cells, the moon, a lightbulb, geometric shapes, oranges and a brain.
