Traditional Chinese Paintings have two main ideas: "Xie Yi" and "Lin Mo". Xie Yi in Flower Paintings mean to rely on the freehand drawing and reflect the characteristic of one's personality. Lin Mo means to copy the old master's works in order to conjecture their spirit of mind.

Pressed Flowers crafts are made by steps and a certain regulation for different flowers.

I found that the pressed flowers crafts have a similar connection with Traditional Chinese Flower Paintings, which is the idea of simulation. They both lost the origin significance of the prototypes: Chinese Flower Paintings copy the noncommittal spirit,thus birth a different meaning and the Pressed Flowers were changed their purpose from recording nature to standardize crafts.
