ABSURD HARMONY of BEING:
From the remotest dawn, man has had the cultural tendency and spiritual need to find specific locations to dedicate to retreat, worship and meditation; places whose characteristics were conducive to reflection and examination of the knowledge in the search for answers to momentous questions that man has arisen over its existence.
Based on the famous 'Allegory of the Cave' which Plato bequeathed us in his book VII of The Republic, this wooden and sound-kinetic installation, presents a series of seven (7: symbol of full, complete order and period or closed circle) large format metronomes (more than 2 m. In height each) distributed in the form of semicircle which has a common atrium.
Each of these artifacts, as allegorical and doctrinal religious centers itself (no matter which), contains a small electric motor within it that make their pendulums oscillate with different sounds and different temporal cadences. Thus, each metronome moves with a different rhythmic compass respect to the others.
In summary, the installation suggests a spiritual site that transcend the aversion between different possible tendencies (religious and not only theirs) and translates into a space of Opositorum Relationship for the resolution of feeling antinomies. An area for a participation in a world not exclusive, but open to the infinite of all possibilities; an obscure zone of convergence and dialogue for cultural potentialities from various and diverse origins.
The notion of harmony that this work suggests (from the symbol of the metronome) refers to the order or arrangement of the fragments of the whole; to the mix in the right proportions of the various elements of the parts that component it.
In this sense, religions and ideologies, such as perfectly articulated clocks that follow, each, its own laws and set out their own truths, provide no more than mere notes to the Great Spiritual Symphony. The resulting music refers to the Great Harmony as the harmony of diverse individualities linked to the unit of the fundament.
This is a kind of inclusion of the many and an agreement between the discordants that refers to the Primal or Original Chaos.
