This piece is from my Wild series, where nature is taking on the colours of man like war paint - namely fluorescent colours, in their fight to adapt to our ever-changing world. These 'neon' colours are bright and wild, which contrats with the natural colours in nature - or indeed 'the wild'.
Roses symbolise the chalice of life, love and the heart. Traditionally roses became a symbol of the offerings made by a love that was pure. Even Dante was to compare heavenly love with the centre of a rose. Here the colours are spreading from the centres of the rose like the feelings of love spread from the heart, symbolising how nature is all giving and expecting nothing in return, like unconditional love....
