A polyptych of twelve ink drawings working with the violence recently experimented in México. The process begins with the research for explicit images of shootouts released by the media. As a documentary, twelve pictures were chosen, one for every month of 2010. The patterns revealed by the bullet holes in the images are taken as a path for the structure of each drawing, resulting in compositions that are directly connected and conditioned by the circumstances of each event. The artwork looks for an intimate relation to the topic and tries to preserve its strength, while intentionally getting apart of its usual morbid imagery. At the same time, it postulates the moment the country is passing through as a social process capable of generating valuable experiences: diamonds, for the maturity, awakening and transcendence of citizenship. This artwork was recently awarded 1st place of the Saatchi Drawing Showdown and will be soon on show at the Saatchi Gallery in London.
