“Character heads” a new series of charcoal portraits born as an exercise where I draw imaginary faces as fast as possible leaving no time to conscious thought.
The faces float in the illusion of the space created by a large empty space over the heads.
The final drawing is a collection of 9 of these high speed physiognomic portraits where the subtle expression and markings of each portrait talk and feed the rest creating the tension and fluidity of the completed artwork.
9 individual portraits in each series. Each one measures 42cm x 35.5cm (14” x 17”)
Final artwork measures: 129.5cm x 106.7cm (51” x 42”)
