This is one of a series of artworks displaying a mono image (blacks through greys to white) with, usually, just one element highlighted in its natural colour.
In a postmodern sense these disconnected signifiers tease you into constructing your own storyline to explain this phenomenon whereas no story is actually being told. It is, if you like, an experiment into the workings of the human brain as much as art - a joint work.
A black and white image taken on the main approach to the grounds of Carreg Cennen Castle, an ancient welsh castle near the town of Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire in Wales. All is displayed in black and white with only a single item, the red leather interior of the Hyundai Coupe, shown in its full, natural colours. Does the image suggest it's a cold day but the car is warm inside? Is the driver longingly looking back and wishing he or she was in there? The answer is none of these, it is just one highlighted section of an otherwise ordinary picture - but the human brain loves to make sense of the random. The story you see is your story, in a very intimate sense indeed.
