The popular myth of Icarus allows as many interpretations as the partial symbolic elements it contains: a young and inexperienced character, the artificial wings, the Labyrinth, the sky, the sun and the sea.To those, we can add the Faistos Disc as a symbol for earthly life and knowledge and, at the same time, unsolved riddles because of its undeciphered inscriptions.

The circular form of the disc together with its interesting surface relief provide, aesthetically, a solid ground for the composition. Semantically, it constitutes – similar to the Labyrinth – a formalistic expression of the ancient greek mind with eternal character.
