Karra* is a French artist. He lives in the North of France. Karra's creativity and taste for flowers was influenced by his mother who was a landscape designer. Fine arts and fashion design studies coupled with a rewarding experience in the textile industry have led Karra in the late 2000s to develop a unique and very personal artwork approach centered around flowers. His main technique resides in collage, gouache on cut and pasted paper. In a naïve, decorative and sometimes humorous universe, Karra gives an imaginative, animated, lively, magical or graceful interpretation of the flower. Karra's artwork uses recycled, colored, printed, and textured paper on mostly black backgrounds. The floral subject supports a creative work on tensions between colors, contrasts, rare and audacious harmony, bright and dull tones. The reference to textile patterns or fabric and embroidery printing techniques is expressed by the use of the main decorative themes decorating our fabrics. Evidenced by the use of paisley, palmettos, palempour, tortoiseshell, the graphical influence of Slavic countries, Central Asia, Japan and India amongst others can be felt throughout Karra's paintings. Karra*'s artworks do not involve the audience in any specific thought. Their references are numerous, but the purpose is purely aeesthetic. Karra's collage artworks' sole invitation is to free reading and interpretation.
