EXHIBITION HISTORY:
Casino Monte Picayo Exhibition Hall. “Kurtz, para hacernos ver”. Puzol (Valencia). 2010 (*)
Manuel Gamonal uses his pictoric work to establish a dialogue between image and form, in which the image always adapts itself to the composition. His works from the “Dialogos” series emerge from an inspiration of Rauschenberg and his pieces revolving around Dante’s “Divine Comedy”. Jean-Luc Godard’s film and video art, and particularly his approach to editing and the relationship of image and text, are also among Gamonal’s influences. “Dialogos” seeks a confrontation of images taken from diverse contexts - fine art, film, advertisement, mass media - that end up forming new relationships and discourses. Finally, the intellectual process of El Lissitzky and the particular and the particular view of the world of the historic avant-guarde are always reflected in Gamonal’s work.
