The title of the collage is taken from the film ‘On the Threshold of Space’, which showed a detailed account of America’s first steps into space travel. I wanted to create an image of woman as creator, destroyer and protector, a winged fallen angel that would also resemble the Hindu Goddess Kali. Made in the form of a mosaic, tiny squares or cubes of paper form a static image that depicts movement, as if the image of the winged creature is about to take off in flight.
