In the Swiss Alps series, I combine cropped images of the Alps from a 1973 picture book with mirrored shapes made from Pantone color sheets. This series explores a direct yet intuitive process where a found image of terrain is cut, repurposed, and translated into a vibrantly colored geometric shape. Through the editing aspect of the process, I reveal a part of the image that I find to be the most compelling, while also creating a new identity of the original image under my own authorship. In these works, I examine the ways in which one perceives the familiar images of the world we inhabit by utilizing methods of abstraction.
