The photomontage, or digital alchemy, is a transmutation of common, ordinary objects into a panacea of the mundane. Utilizing photos taken from various sources from exotic travels to everyday objects along with PhotoShop, imagery is created by layering photos and textures creating visual rhetoric. The relationship of the images are used as a sensory expression of cultural meanings and studies as opposed to catering purely to aesthetic consideration. It is often difficult to discern the exact relationship between different parts of the overall image created allowing the viewer to interpret the piece within their own framework of thought and visual experience. Visual tropes and tropic thinking become a part of the visual rhetoric persuading and communicating with the viewer as an intriguing story emerges.
