The work of Fizz Fieldgrass takes photographic imagery through a physical process which radically alters the perception of the former. The photograph as an artwork is nowadays often derived from employing the (usually) digital manipulation of an image within its frame and plane. The artist here sets out a different ground where the photograph as it exists is reworked as a ‘form’ rather than an illusory representation.
Other processes of course, such as collage or montage, exploit photographic imagery through the cutting or dismembering of pictures for re-assembly. Thus those original images are given a different context by becoming part of a new whole. Here a photographic image as a whole is reworked to create something fresh.
With physically breaking and reforming the plane on which an image sits, the intent is to create novel change via the traditional application of the artist’s hand in images produced by contemporary means.
sreyashi Ghosh I find this "Collection:Art Agenda: The Female Gender" very interesting and very powerful. I am a gender and human rights activist apart from being a writer/poet/painter. I find these pieces of artwork evocative and has a bold message. The questions associate with Partiarchy and Gender issues are put forward in a very interesting way through art as if each piece of art has this story to tell and certain ongoing debates have been superbly portrayed.
