Monica Silva was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and has been living in Europe since 1986. She currently lives in Milan, Italy.

In 2001, starts professional career in photography. Collaboras for important several editorials for the main italian magazines and shoots cd covers for record labels such as BMG Sony, Emi, Adel.

In 2011, sets a new step in her carrier: in addition to Nikon School Italy, she starts a collaboration with two majors companies in photography business: Hasselblad and Manfrotto, becoming ambassador for both, traveling in Italy and abroad for lecturing and workshops on psychology of portraiture. In the same year, Corriere della Sera assigns her to cover the 54th La Biennale of Art as special reporter. In that occasion, Monica Silva shoots a well-known portrait of art critic and writer Gillo Dorfles. The image, entitled “Dorfles infinito e lo sguardo a Ghirri”, was awarded by Paolo Baratta, president of La BIennale of Art, Bice Curiger the curator of 54th Art Exhibition “Illuminations” and by the artist Shirana Shahbazi as Best Photograph Ex-Equo of the 54th international Biennale art Exhibition.

In 2012, Monica travels, for editorial assignments in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Salvador Bahia, Greece, Turkey and Spain.
Starts 2013 covering a safari reportage in Kenia, Masai Mara, soon to be published and on February 2013 signs with Mondadori Portfolio Agency to shoot editorials for the magazines of the group.

She is currently working on three ambitious photo projects and on a forthcoming book publication.
