Predominantly figurative in form, abstraction seeps in to my paintings as themes of the relationship between figure and form struggle for attention. Areas of flesh are interrupted with abstract and geometric shapes applied over the loose and intuitively applied paint underneath. A palette consisting of grungey flesh-tones and an influx of neon is achieved by building up multiple loose layers of thinned oils and the addition of the controlled application of acrylics, which makes both subtle areas of interest and bright areas of bold colour.
