After receiving a first class BA Hons in Applied Art/Architectural Glass at NEWI in North Wales, I began to sell and exhibit my work in galleries nationwide. I am now a qualified Art Teacher but continue to practice my craft. I have recently created a range of new work.
My slumped bowls and coasters are inspired by natural shapes and patterns. I fuse glass, coloured frits, and enamels and sometimes use sandblasting. These layers of pattern and mark making allow for each graduation to be viewed simultaneously. The pieces are fired several times to create these effects with every piece being unique.
My installation work is about communicating memories and emotions. The way in which they are viewed is crucial. I want the viewer to feel they are seeing a private thing, to feel absorbed within a moment in time. This work plays with the idea of time and emotions hidden and revealed.
