Brent Sikkema began his gallery work in 1971 as Director of Exhibitions at the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, NY. He opened his first gallery in 1976 in Boston, MA, specializing in photography. In 1991, after moving to New York, Sikkema opened a contemporary art gallery on Wooster Street in Soho called Wooster Gardens.
The gallery moved to the Chelsea arts district in early 1999 and a few years later the name was changed to Sikkema Jenkins & Co. The gallery exhibits work in a variety of media including painting, drawing, installation, photography and sculpture. The gallery represents a group of prominent artists including Mark Bradford, Arturo Herrera, Vik Muniz, Shahzia Sikander, Amy Sillman and Kara Walker.

K McCoy This collection is quite a disturbed looking combination of visuals . . . a reflection of the mindset of the Curator???
Franz Falckenhaus Thanks a lot !!! I really appreciate your interest !!!

Lisa Stoner It is a lovely collection that Mr. Sikkema has curated. I am guessing that he is a sci-fi (SyFy according to the television) fan. One question/concern though: what is the reason for not displaying the artists' name on this front page with his/her work? I was disappointed to realize that I needed to click through to see a name. Thx.

Patrick Harris Brent Sikkema (and his sly little smile) rocks the Art-House!
His choices of Jon Gabb, Scott Hollingsworth, Susan Mata, Andrew Pommier, Franz Falconhaus and Igor Solis demonstrate a sensibility that tilts to beauty, the unexpected, dreams and sabotage. Applause to a sophisticated, deeply realized curatorial vision.

Ali Haghani This collections to me are set in two's. Very clever and good.
Sarah Stokes I enjoy the sense of positive energy expressed via color, strong lines and free-spirited forms juxtaposed with almost an anxiety apparent in certain pieces in this collection. Very interesting and thought-provoking! I really like this collection.

Kruti Shah I love the expression of color and line in this collection.

Paul Duffy Great selection. Try my hypervisual photo-paintings...
Alex Kuznetsov Dear Brent, perhaps you'll find some inspiration or just simply enjoy watching few samples of artwork i do. Just take a look and give me some feedback. Kindly accept my appreciation.
Patricia Kalil It looks great! If interested in forbidden subjects and taboos, please check Fernando de La Rocque's work (saatchionline.com/fernandodelarocque). The artist fires up societal prejudices. He has a new collection called "Blow Job - Work of Blowing" painted using cannabis smoke. La Rocque has other series called "Colonias" with beautiful erotic images; sculptures using "plastic found in nature" called "Pet Shop" and his work called "Golden Cockroaches".
Lindy Chambers Wow I was beginning to think I didn't get excited about anyone's collection.
This was fresh, consistent, and my favorite so far. Great Collection, Great eye.

Lindy Chambers Okay looked at them all. You are still my favorite. I looked at all of the other collections and I think "How Old are you" this isn't new! So disappointing, I guess I am just really really picky, I don't like gimmicky, or sensationalism, in art. Really liked yours the Best!!!
Helge Windisch dear mr sikkema, you seem to be a curator with a sharp view! congratulations.
how you see my paintings?

Neil Sen Hi Brent
I live in Houston, Texas and have exhibited my work at the Meuseum of Arts in Houston for the last few years and recently done a solo show in Las Vegas. Will really appreciate if you kindly check out my work.....Thanks for the opportunity Neil
I have been offered to join the A. Jain Marunouchi Gallery located in The New York Gallery Building in the middle of Manhattan, which is a great chance to get especially because I have not had luck with Danish galleries.
There is an acceptance fee of 2,000,- us dollars therefore I thought if you could check out my Saatchi portfolio and hopefully buy a painting, so i can afford to pay the admission fee. It would mean a lot!
Thank you in advance! Best wishes Hans

Marie Wengler As the editor of an art magazine, which has just covered several art fairs in NY - including VOLTA 2013 - I thought you might find it interesting as a curator to check out a free online version of the magazine with links to featured artists as inspiration/a visual description of the new emerging tendencies at the art scene.
