Marko Jezernik is an exceptionally complete personality and talented artist. His life philisophy is dealing with harmonisation of his native Slovene culture and joyfully creative artistic nature. His water-colours are poetic evolution, where a few theme-colours become a new value.

In the year 1983, after several years of drawing and painting only for himself, Marko Jezernik finally showed his art to public. Since then he has had more than thirty one-man and two group exhibitions: in entjur, Celje, Ljubljana, Videm, Belgrade, Radovljica, Rogaka Slatina, Rijeka, Radenci, Portoro, Kamnik and Bruxelles ( 1992 ).
Acording to Drago Medved, Marko Jezernik's primary interest throughout this time has been water-colour, although he continued to draw. He has also produced some graphic works. After all this years of creativity , water-colour stands out as the artist's prefered technique. As a technique and a method of fine-art contemplation it corresponds most closely to the artist's character traits, that is, his child-like curiosity, lirical sensitivity and firm emphasis in just the right places.
His compositions are simple; an imaginary line of reflection separates the upper from the lower part of the painting and is introduced by the motif itself: a lake, its surface, the horizon... The artist taps from nature a harmony which also endows him with poetic licence, and permits independent excursions into unknown and the mysterious.
This tendency is seconded by his use of colours. In his compositions the yellow bursts forward in a moment of relaxation amidst the predominantly cold colours, especially blue and subdued green, and the many shades of grey.
Jezernik's paintings are an impresionistic recording of his world view, which is passionate and rational at the same time. For this reason, according to the critic Drago Medved, water-colour is likely to remain Jezernik's favourite technique for quite some time, perhaps forever!
