About

I graduated with an M.F.A from the The Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

I began as a figurative painter, but in the late 1980’s I moved away from strictly figurative painting and started to incorporate other media into my work. At this time I have gradually became less concerned with the literal representation of objects.

By the early 1990’s, I became a purely abstract painter, though my figurative background is still evident in my drawings.
My newest series - “Dripping”, done with acrylic paint on canvas and cardboard - “Strips and Stains”, take the idea further by forming a series, that I hope can be put together by the viewer into a variety of individual configurations.
I shown my work in several solo and group exhibitions: in the United States - New York, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, in Mexico - Mexico City, in Europe - Berlin, Hamburg, Prague, Budapest, and in Poland - Warsaw, Szczecin, Poznan, Radom.
My works are in many private collections in Europe and in the USA.
I am an illustrator with extensive experience as an illustrator for magazines and newspapers doing drawings for literary works - I made illustrations for "11211 Magazine" published in Williamsburg, Brooklyn,  for "Foyer", Theater Magazine, "Rzeczpospolita" Daily Newspaper, Warsaw, Poland. I completed illustrations for two children's books "Piano Magic" Book - published 2004 in Japan, and "Picture of Music" book.
Photography is another area of interest and a natural extension of the other forms of my art. It is marked by a spontaneity and acknowledgment of  everyday, often mundane, objects. I try to use unusual angles in my photos that gives them a graphic and dynamic quality. Other pictures show the natural geometry of man made structures like iron bridges, overpasses etc., the play of light and dark, shadows and outlines.

Finally, I'm a digital artist and a graphic designer. I do variety of digital art -  recently series of collages - often naming them “Virtual Graffiti” as it is a combination of my drawings and paintings with my photographs.
