Born in Stockholm, Sweden, 1965. Lives and works in Stockholm. Represented by Swedish Photography in Berlin.
ATLs relation to photography is direct. She uses it to convey a feeling, a story, a personal reality reasonably based on autobiographical material.
Many of her works originate from nature. She focuses on – simultaneously questioning and reaffirming – our view of nature as a virgin state, a primitive state. There are certain elements in her work that can be traced back to landscape painting in a Nordic romantic tradition. She attempts to investigate the mysteries of human existence, using nature as a basis.
The landscapes in her images seems more and more magnificent. However, her way of looking at the world remains essentially neutral and one gets the impression that the beauty in her later photographs does not come from esthetic decisions, but from the fact that reality happened to be beautiful when the picture was taken.
