About

Born in Limerick City, Ireland in 1973. Residing in Cork City since 2001. Currently working as an independent photographer exclusively working within a documentary style. Music: Currently listening to Miles Davis mid seventies period music, just before his self imposed musical exile in 1975. The loud and brash esoteric sounds of the live albums Pangeae, Dark Magus and Agharta contain intense depth and insane colours and must be heard. ECM European jazz artsits including Eberhard Weber, John Abercrombie, Enrico Rava and Ralph Towner to name but a few, fantastich rich music.

Through an influence of street photographers such as Robert Frank, Walker Evans, André Kertész, Lee Friedlander, Garry Winogrand, Danny Lyon and through the general medium of the energetic, transient and fast moving pace of street imagery, previous and current personal photographic work explores the often both exciting and mundane traits of the street portrait. The unknown subject as he/she/they move, interact, live and journey through their enviornment and their land. Read More

Future Shows: Work in Progress: Currently, and for the last few years, I have been working on a project with the provisional title of Common Faces/Common Places. The work captures the subjects, portraits of people, in their cities and towns, streets as they interact with their surroundings / their environment and go about their daily lives. Where the images have been taken and who the subject may be is irrelevant to small the snippet of their lives I gather and grab, and they could be anywhere in our muticulural society where it is a franchise strewen street or a tired and forgotten back lane. Captured candidly the portraits often reveal a comforting melancholy especially when blending in with their often mundane surroundings. Read More
