Born 29th June 1977 In Sussex, England
I live in the far South East, in an area called Thanet, where I have been for 28 years and I currently work as a freelance artist doing community artowrok with GAllery IOTA and as a tutor with Kent Children's University. I have studied up to BA(hons) level and have also taught myself stone carving and willow weaving but am currently concentrating on my work with chicken wire.
During my degree I discovered that I had a knack for working with chicken wire and have a great affinity for it, even with the constant scratches and stabs from the hundreds of sharp metal points. I like the idea of using a material that is normally hidden within a final piece and is only a means to an end. I have recently started exploring how the see-through property of chicken wire affects the considerations and overall feel of a multi layer piece where normally most it would be hidden from sight.
I will soon be starting to work with the willow again too, to develop my skills further and explore just how versatile it can be as a material. … Read More
