The Space as a base.

Since 2005 I have worked with the urban space.

My ideas for the painting, comes to me though traveling, and the last years the trip has gone to Asia. Here is a brand new city space, culture and history that have given me a new direction in my work.

I have worked with Tokyo's very different areas since 2009.

I begin my work with photographing the city space, and back in the studio I decide what I would like to work with and what story I would like to tell.

I like to simplify the space in my analysis. I feel it gives a stronger story. In my last pictures
I have concentrated on the space that the signs, advertisements and light form.

The palette I'm working with is an interaction between soil color and fade resistant colors.

I work to compose the colors so they play up to each other in their impact and character, as the perceived color is determined by the colors that surround it.
