I paint discrete objects from imagination and create a personal narrative from them. The subject of the work is playful, and comes from mythology and magic: the sense of the inanimate becoming animate that happens so frequently in Grimm’s Fairy Tales and other myths and legends. The objects awaken into being, develop personality and enact dramatically. I am interested in how an object’s function and practical use could be translated, or distorted, into an idea of personality and character, and how this interacts with its formal character.
