I love working in oils producing figurative artwork and portraiture for exhibition and commission. I have a strong foundation in painting, drawing, composition and colour, complimented by a creative and inquisitive nature.
I have a constant need to express my fascination for nature. When I consider how every single thing co-exists within the universe I feel compelled to try to capture even a moments existence on canvas. "A mere glimpse of the cycle in action is beyond our comprehension” and yet it is that single mere glimpse that I constantly strive to record in my artwork. I see the synchronicity in all things, I am in awe of the geometry of existence, of the sequence of Fibonacci, of the reflections of light, the movement of energy. Each of my paintings is more than a personal expression of my own experience, it is a moments capture of that glimpse of our world, an understanding, a love of all that is sacred.
I still wonder even at the intricate display of such tiny threads on a leaf knowing there is a constant flow of many thousands more and each leaf has its own pattern and its own story. There is so much to unveil and so much to share that I find myself almost self indulgent in my urgency to paint every day and express a constant chain of new realisations.
I discovered a traditional method of oil painting as the most powerful way to deliver my artistic visions bringing new colours into my work and contrasting these with the original earthy tones of the old palettes.
By contrasting intricate close up sections with broad bands of colour I bring the larger painting alive. My work is varied in subject matter, but on the whole I tend to focus on naturalistic, figurative painting usually with a spiritual element running through my work. …Read More
