Contemporary British artist, Jacqueline Hammond, is renowned for producing strong, punchy images that are rich in texture and colour. A prolific painter and multidisciplinary artist, Jacqueline exhibits widely and is commissioned by individual clients, collectors and high profile brands alike.
Several works are represented by art publishers and her work has attracted interest from British companies, charities and organisations such as The British Legion, RNLI, RHS, The Science Museum as well as international press.
Immediate inspiration comes from direct observation: subject matter is plucked from the world she encounters. Some ideas evolve, others are reactionary. More thought provoking themes explore today’s society, the media and cultural theory. The act of painting comes from a gut instinct, she is a like a woman possessed, and refuses to be tied with the same brush.
Works from the ‘Life’s A Beach ’ The Signification of the Poppy´ series are iconic of her work. Tidal seashore scenes that feature the starling’s sunset spectacle have inspired several commissions. So have the quirky Pebble Heads series which stems from a playful side to her work. Popular with the public, she takes commissions from her seafront studio on Brighton's Madeira Drive.
Jacqueline is a proven businesswoman. She has created a range of art-led yet functional products - such as deckchairs, cushions, bags and lampshades – that are marketed under the Smart Deco brand and have been featured in the national press and television. The products feature her artworks printed on to the fabric, taking fine art to a wider audience. The range is gaining significant interest since launch with national retailers placing orders for 2014.
Whether inspired by the street or the sea, Jacqueline’s work has an edge: her paintings are consistently striking. Her natural disposition is to let the paint dictate the creative process, trusting the medium and her mind’s eye to translate the vision.
A versatile artist and illustrator, Jacqueline’s works have a wide appeal and are ideal for use in print. Several works are available for licensing purposes or for retail as prints. She is currently busy but happy to meet clients and discuss ideas for commissioning a painting, a project or design brief.…Read More
