Born Sydney Australia. My work draws from the Australian Landscape and has, as a background, a consistency in the portrayal of light, movement and colour, and a celebration of the sensuality of oil paint.
My current interest is in the slippage between the "real" and illusion, movement and stasis; fast and slow, the point at which nature disintegrates or decays (and the decay of the image); the time between light and dark; and nature as a site of flux and impermanence. That is, I am interested in the transience and uncertainty of the real.
Since graduating from the National Art School, Sydney with Distinction in 2003, Gabrielle was appointed Artist in Residence at Arthur Boyd's house in Bundanon in 2005, in Le Meridien Hotel, Tahiti and Temanuatu Hotel, Bora Bora in 2007 and Fundacion Valparaiso in Almeria, Spain in 2011. Gabrielle has held seven solo shows at some of the top galleries in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, and was invited to exhibit in a solo show in the main gallery at the Goulburn Regional Gallery in November, 2010.
